Criminal Investigation Launched in Salmonella Outbreak.
Peanut Butter Recall Highlites
Like previous food born out breaks, the peanut butter recall has been a convoluted trace and discovery operation.

Peanut Butter Recall: Do You Feel Safe Eating Peanut Butter or Fearful of Salmonella ?
At my local grocery store yesterday, I noticed they had a big display of jars of peanut butter on sale for 2 for $4. I didn't know whether to stock up or roll my eyes because there is a salmonella outbreak around the nation currently linked to peanut butter products.
The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) reports that the source of the peanut butter Salmonella Typhimurium outbreak is the Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) at Blakely, Georgia processing plant. The FDA informs America that "Major national brands of jarred peanut butter found in grocery stores are not affected by the PCA recall."

Thus far the national brands of peanut butter sold by the jar in markets have not recalled their products. These products are assumed to be safe at this time. However, the list of companies recalling their peanut butter cracker and cookie products is growing ever longer. You can find information about brands with peanut butter product recalls at:

I did decide to buy the peanut butter on sale. I like to trust the FDA. Ha ha, that is soooo not true. The FDA terrifies me. They approve drugs with very little testing and often have to recall drugs that are killing patients.

I haven't had any peanut butter in a few weeks due to fears about the peanut butter recall. I have been wary of trusting the FDA's claim that peanut butter in stores is safe. However, I gave in to my desire to peanut butter. This morning I had a smear of peanut butter on one-half of an English muffin for breakfast. I am still felling well so I guess the Jiffy peanut butter is safe.

I suspect I won't ever be eating cheese/peanut butter snack crackers ever again. I did enjoy them as a snack every now and then. Now it doesn't seem the risk of possible salmonella to eat any commercial peanut butter snack products.

Young kids everywhere love those snack crackers in their school lunches. Moms must be scrambling to find another snack to send to school with the kids that is as tasty and filling as peanut butter crackers.

This salmonella outbreak is just another in a long list of recent salmonella outbreaks. Perhaps growing one's own food is a good idea.
